Description:

The Red Army Mausoleum, built in 1945 in the memorial complex of the liberated city of Trzcianka, Poland. The complex included a mausoleum, a burial site for Red Army soldiers, a tank monument, and a park. The grave beneath the memorial complex contained the remains of 56 Soviet soldiers (17 of whom have been identified) who all died in the winter battles of 1945 to liberate the city and its environs from the German occupiers. In the 1950s and 1960s, exhumations were carried out here and some of the mass graves were moved to the city cemetery. However, the burial site directly beneath the mausoleum remained untouched. In 2017, the memorial complex was demolished by decision of local authorities.
