Basil, the Fool for Christ
Exploration and melee oriented high risk/reward character.
Adds 2 items and 1 character to the game:
Fool for Christ
"You feel curious!"
* 0 – Fool cards have a chance to spawn each time you enter a new room (scales with luck) if you don’t have one on the current floor already.
* 0 – Fool cards have Teleport 2.0 effect now.
* Entering a Boss Room or Devil Room can spawn a fool card only if you took no damage on the floor and a special room like Secret or Treasure can only spawn a Fool card only if you enter it naturally and not through usage of Fool cards.
An exploration oriented item to reward both impatient speedrunning playstyle by letting players enter new rooms quickly and exploration heavy playstyle by allowing resourceful and explorers to gain access to more pickups and items… if they play their cards right (heh)
A Strange Card
"…if a spell was cast this round, transform the Fool for Christ."
* Using a card transforms the character into a murderous kitty!
* While transformed, the character can’t fire tears. Instead, the player can leap around! Leaping works a bit like How To Jump.
* The transformation is temporary and getting hit reduces it’s duration by 33%.
* The character deals close-range (almost contact) damage while transformed. Damage scales with damage stat.

A Strange Card, Fool for Christ
And here is the titular character! With his low health and an item that promotes close range encounters, he’s a very risky character, but his stats and items allow him to generally go through the game at a faster pace, at the cost of possibly dying faster. Can’t live fast without dying quicker!
Planned features:
* Synergies (synergies with items like Scorpio or Iron Bar to apply status effects while dealing damage in melee form, Tarot Cloth to increase duration of the effect and other, less obvious synergies if they might be needed)
* Challenge character: The Cannibal! (2 HP instead of 1 HP and 1 Soul heart. Kills heal red heart damage. Not killing enemies in melee for a while deals periodic damage in a form of hunger. Need to figure out how to make him unlockable or at the very least find a way to make a challenge)
