Description:

IMPORTANT NOTE:
As of April 6th, 2017, this mod ONLY works with patch 1.19. If you want to use it you need to roll back to 1.19. We are currently working on our next major update (0.70) which is guaranteed to be compatable with the latest patch and is expected to release midsummer.
Another update, as of 11/28/17
"Midsummer"… not. Check out this video for an update on our progress towards 0.7: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmzEZ47NtSo

We’ve done a lot but there’s still more to do (a couple months worth). A release date will be announced as soon as we are confident we can meet it.

Hi, folks! Welcome to the Mesoamerica Universalis Beta v.632 (Itzcoatl), a total overhaul mod for Europa Universalis IV by Ballistic, Addminus, and NathanC.

= What’s in Beta v.632 Itzcoatl =
A simulation of historical Mesoamerica from the year 1428-1697 CE.
New cultures, governments, ideas, religions, and other systems, including a basic population system.
Rise to dominate the Triple Alliance as the island city of the Mexica, Tenochtitlan!
Build a strong empire in the West as the city of the Purepecha, Tzintzuntzan!
Experience new thoroughly researched historical events and decisions!
Face against that dastardly Castilian adventurer, Cortez, or choose to experience a new, alternate history with no Conquest!
The groundwork for future updates that will fully flesh out the world of Mesoamerica!

= Questions =

Do I need any DLC?
Wonky behavior should be expected any time you remove any of the major dlc from the equation. This mod was developed on the most recent build (1.19.2) of EUIV, with all dlc enabled. DLC which will cause a bigger effect on gameplay will be El Dorado, Cossacks, and Rights of Man. Unique unit graphics for Mesoamerican nations require the El Dorado Content Pack.

It’s not working, what can I do?
We advise all testers to note that this is a preliminary beta release. All kinds of weird and awful behaviors can happen. We advise testers to keep us advised here on the workshop discussions and on the associated modding thread on the Paradox Plaza site.

What can I do to help?
We’re glad you asked. We’re currently looking for experienced modders, researchers, and artists. Special attention is currently being paid to EUIV code wizards, modelling artists, traditional artists, and researchers familiar with the Mesoamerican area. If you’re interested, leave us a line! We will have a recruiting thread open in our workshop discussions.

How do I play as the Aztecs?
Play Tenochtitlan.

The Mod Isn’t Appearing in the Launcher?
Try to clear your steam download cache. You can find instructions here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3134-TIAL-4638
Also, you will generally have to restart EU4 once or twice before it downloads properly.

What are the plans for the future of this mod?
Check out the pinned thread "Tentative Update Roadmap" for our development plans leading up to full release.
