1935: Battle of Kozlova Castle
After the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, and despite the turmoil of the Russian Civil War, Chernarus obtained in 1918 its independence as a sovereign country, as a kingdom, with Mikhail I of Battenberg-Kozlov as its elected ruler. Nevertheless, after a decade of social unrest and politicla instability, a war within its frontiers started in 1933. Since the bolshevik insurrection of 1933, the region of South Zagoria has seen a continuous and terrible bloodshed between brothers, between sons. But now we are in 1935, for two years the troops still loyal to the king have crushed position after position of the self-procclaimed Soviet People’s Republic of Chernarus until the stalemate of Winter 1934. Since then, war has stopped its course, then sporadic skirmishes and artillery shelling were the usual thing until the loyalists launched a new offensive intended to finally expel the bolsheviks out of the mountainous areas to the north of the region.
The 137th Infantry Regiment has managed to recapture the village of Grishino, in the north of the South Zagoria region, and has established its command there in order to organize the advance towards the last stronghold of the rebels in the area, the historic Kozlova Castle, symbolic for being the residence of the man considered the founder of the nation of Chernarus in the Middle Ages, Ivan Kozlov.
The communists turned this castle, on an important hill, into a stronghold from which to launch artillery attacks and incursions against our positions. The mission will be to penetrate the surrounding forests, break through the first line of defence and launch the final assault on the castle. God protects us, God protects the King!
This mission is intended to be a prequel of 1940: Last Hope, set in the civil war that decided the change of regime to a republic in Chernarus, just before the Soviet Union occupated the country in 1940. Play the role of private Roland Pešek, a soldier from the Infantry Regiment No. 137, loyal to King Mikhail I, in the important Battle of Kozlova Castle, during the Spring Offensive that was about to decide the course of the war.
