Battle of Shevardino Redoubt WIP
A battle that was fought a day before the battle of Borodino. Napoleon realized to defeat the Russians occupying the route to Moscow, he must destroy the garrison at Shevardino Redoubt first.
The battle commenced with a huge cavalry clash between Murat’s forces and the Russians. Several times the redoubt was taken by the French but then driven off by counterattacks from the Russians. Eventually, the Russians retreated because Eugene de Beauharnais, Napoleon’s stepson, threatened the left flank, culminating a French victory. Casualties were in the ~4000s for each side.
