This was a B23-7 with a cab rebuilt for the Seaboard System between 1978 and 1979. The reason for the cab was to make a case for removing the caboose off of the rear part of trains. Only 10 units, numbered 5130 through 5139, were built, all exclusively for the Seaboard System, all of which had reconditioned trade-in EMD Blomberg B trucks. Later, CSX inherited all 10 of these and ran them into the 90s. Eventually, in 2001, they were all scrapped, and today, there are no existing examples of the locomotive.
