Operation Rolling Thunder
MISSION: Operation Rolling Thunder is nearing its end and as one of the final major attacks, we must bomb a North Vietmanese airfield and army headquarters. Our secondary objective is to knock out all enemy infrastructre near the airfield. You will be commanding the aircraft carrier CVA-59 Forrestal. The enemy have multiple SAM and AAA sites around the airfield so it is crucial to take those out. Our ships can NOT fire unless fired upon….Should be a easy in and out mission. Good luck.
BACKROUND: Operation Rolling Thunder was a sustained bombardment campaign conducted by the U.S air force and navy. The operation has four goals in mind; "to destroy North Vietnam’s transportation system, industrial base, and air defenses; and to halt the flow of men and materiel into South Vietnam." The campaign eventually led to cancellation in the November of 1968.
