Bell UH-1D Iroqouis "Huey"
Block count: 243
This is the Bell UH-1 "Huey". It is a two-bladed utility helicopter.
The two-bladed rotor is a so called semi-rigid rotor, which means that the two rotor blades are connected through a hinge that allows them to flap in order to counter dissymmetry of lift. It is simple in design but it does cause some vibrations.
I strive to make all my helicopters realistic in terms of looks and mechanisms, and to make them robust and easy to fly.
Update 2.0: Minor overall improvements. Better balanced in forward fight. Black windows instead of yellow (I’m not really sure what looks best)
Update 3.0: Major facelift. Tail boom is narrower and the fuselage is not as tall. It looks closer to the real uh-1 now. Olive green color instead of pine green. Added sling hook. Improved flight characteristics and reduced vibrations.
Update 4.0: New semi-rigid rotor system. The flapping hinge of the new rotor system is now centered with the pitch hinges, compared to the other where the flapping hinge was placed below. Less vibration. Doesn’t take off immediatily when turning on the engine. Improved sling hook.
