Aztlan

City-State Trait: You can build the Eagle Warrior Unique Unit at half cost. Cities with a Granary get +1 Food.

History:
Aztlan is the ancestral home of the Aztec peoples. Aztecah is the Nahuatl word for "people from Aztlan". Aztlan is mentioned in several ethnohistorical sources dating from the colonial period, and each of them give different lists of the different tribal groups who participated in the migration from Aztlan to central Mexico, but the Mexica who went on to found Mexico-Tenochtitlan are mentioned in all of the accounts. Many scholars, thinking that there must be an actual location, have searched for Aztlan in various places in northern Mesoamerica, where the Chichimec tribes, of which the Aztecs are a branch, originated. The 16th century French cosmographer, André Thévet, placed it in Florida. Modern researchers in favor of this thesis have focused on finding a northern site located on an island in the middle of a lake, which reduces research. Among the places most often cited are the island of Janitzio in the middle of Lake Pátzcuaro in the Mexican state of Michoacan, or the island of Mexcaltitan in the state of Nayarit.
