Boom’s Poland Rework
Poland has always been a bit of a scattered civ. Their bonuses are all over the place, making it difficult for Poland players to focus on a victory condition or else missing out on their bonuses. They are simultaneously incentivized to go for religious, cultural, and domination victory, while also having a unique building in the commercial hub, which directly helps none of these victories.
Thus, in this mod, I aim to draw Poland’s bonuses together, giving them a uniquely consistent way to generate relics while also rewarding building of encampments further through a new unique building.
Lithuanian Union now provides a relic for each Golden Age, giving Poland consistently strong faith and culture generation in the early game, as well as making Encampments actually providing a major faith adjacency to Holy Sites (Firaxis changed the description to this but not the actual ability :p). The Winged Hussar has been reverted to how it was before the April patch, making it come earlier, making Poland’s power spike come faster. Finally, the Sukiennice, which had no synergy with Poland’s abilities, has been replaced with the Ducal Stable, a unique Stable inspired from Civ 5 which better rewards building Encampments and reflects Poland’s history of powerful cavalry forces.
- Holy Sites no longer receive standard adjacency from other districts. Instead, they receive a major adjacency from Encampment districts
- Receives a relic each time a Golden Age is triggered
- The Ducal Stable is a unique Stable, unlocked at Horseback Riding
- Provides +1 Culture
- Provides +3 Gold to all Pastures in the city
- Light and Heavy Cavalry units trained in the city receive a free promotion
- April patch changes to the Hussar reverted
- Unlocks at Mercenaries (from Mercantilism)
- Combat strength reduced to 55 (from 64)
- Cost reduced to 250 (from 330)
- Maintenance reduced to 3 (was 5)
- Receives the Escort Mobility promotion for free
This mod should be compatible with nearly all other mods. However, due to the way district adjacencies are coded, any modded civs and some modded leaders will also receive the Holy Site adjacency from Encampments. There is no way to fix this that I know of other than including a line for every mod, so if there is widespread demand to make another mod compatible I will include that.
I have included my Military Engineer Buff mod in the required mods section. It is not required, but I think it helps gameplay experience significantly.
IMPORTANT: I have now added a significant amount of new stuff that borrows models from existing assets. I have been considering creating assets of my own to use in these mods, but that will definitely slow down my release of new mods, perhaps for a very long time. For those who enjoy my mods and look forward to me releasing new ones, I would like your opinions on how important special assets are to you in my mods, if many people would like unique assets, I may take a break from releasing mods to update my existing ones with unique models. Please leave your suggestions in the comments.
Special thanks as always to JNR, Fuzzle, and p0kiehl for helping me code this.
Please feel free to leave feedback about compatibility, balance, bugs or anything else you would like to say to me :). Please enjoy my Poland rework!
