Siemens Vectron je třída modulárních víceúčelových lokomotiv firmy Siemens Mobility vyráběných v německém Mnichově. Je zamýšlena jako nástupce úspěšné řady EuroSprinter. Sice byla původně ohlášena jako čistě elektrická, nicméně na veletrhu InnoTrans 2010 byla představena i verze se vznětovým motorem.
Kromě evropského trhu ji Siemens nabízel i do Spojených států amerických firmě Amtrak coby vhodnou lokomotivu pro Severovýchodní koridor. V této snaze uspěl a bylo objednáno 70 lokomotiv. Verze upravená pro americké železnice se nazývá Amtrak Cities Sprinter.
Po neúspěchu se schvalováním řady 380 na síti DB vyhlásily na jaře 2017 ČD veřejnou zakázku na pronájem 10 lokomotiv na 10 let pro rychlost 200 km/h na vlaky EuroCity Praha – Berlín – Hamburk. V červnu byl vyhlášen vítěz, stala se jím společnost ELL a již na konci měsíce došlo k prvnímu nasazení Vectronu 193.270 na rychlíky Praha – Ústí nad Labem – Cheb v úseku Praha – Ústí nad Labem. Stroj sloužil k zaškolení a zkouškám; lokomotivy, které následně byly pronajmuty, byly v té době ještě ve výrobě.
Nasazování na vlacích EC začalo v prosinci 2017. Zatím však kvůli opožděnému zaškolení německých strojvedoucích jezdily pouze v úseku Praha – Drážďany, kde nahradily řadu 371. Dále vlaky byly stále vedeny německými stroji řady 101. Jedna lokomotiva pak od prosince 2017 vozí rychlíky Praha – Cheb v úseku Praha – Ústí nad Labem. Od 10. 6. 2018 byl přepřah v Drážďanech zrušen, od tohoto dne jsou vlaky EC vedeny Vectronem z Prahy až do Berlína, resp. Hamburku; 1 pár vlaků denně pokračuje s touto lokomotivou v čele až do Kielu.

The Siemens Vectron is a class of modular multi-purpose locomotives by Siemens Mobility manufactured in Munich, Germany. It is intended as a successor to the successful EuroSprinter series. Although it was originally announced as purely electric, a version with a diesel engine was also presented at the InnoTrans 2010 fair.
In addition to the European market, Siemens also offered it to Amtrak in the United States as a suitable locomotive for the Northeast Corridor. He succeeded in this endeavor and 70 locomotives were ordered. A version adapted for American railroads is called the Amtrak Cities Sprinter.
After the failure to approve the 380 series on the DB network, in the spring of 2017, ČD announced a public contract for the lease of 10 locomotives for 10 years for a speed of 200 km/h for the EuroCity trains Prague – Berlin – Hamburg. In June, the winner was announced, the company ELL, and at the end of the month Vectron 193.270 was deployed for the first time on the Prague – Ústí nad Labem – Cheb express trains in the Prague – Ústí nad Labem section. The machine was used for training and testing; the locomotives that were subsequently leased were still in production at the time.
Deployment on EC trains began in December 2017. So far, however, due to the delayed training of German train drivers, they only ran on the Prague-Dresden section, where they replaced series 371. In addition, the trains were still driven by German series 101 engines. One locomotive has been driving the Prague-Cheb express trains since December 2017 in the section Prague – Ústí nad Labem. As of June 10, 2018, the switch in Dresden was cancelled, from that day EC trains are guided by Vectron from Prague to Berlin, or Hamburg; 1 pair of trains a day continues with this locomotive in the lead as far as Kiel.
