Description:

What if World War 2 never happened, and we got a 5-way cold war instead? This tries to answer how it could happen, and how it would play out.

Majors:

– The United States of America:
To ensure the territory of the United States remained theirs after the Great Pacific War, they developed a device they called the Atomic Bomb. A weapon that could destroy an entire city in one go. They never really got to use it since the Second Russo-Japanese War taught them a lot more about the effects of nuking an entire city. Like the effects of nuclear radiation and fall-out on people. Even if they don’t have the largest alliance in the world, their nukes alone make them a force to be reckoned with.

– German Reich
After the Pyrrhic victory at the Battle of the Rhineland, Hitler learned of 2 things from that incident. One, his army isn’t as strong as he thought it way; And two, he could utilize the fears of the people of France and Britain to get as much as possible. He even said in one of his speeches,"…even if our army is a bunch of cavemen who fight with sticks and stones, that doesn’t matter in the eyes of our enemies people." This allowed the Nazis to take the territories of Bohemia, Slovenia, and more famously Austria. They did however still fought in wars like the Half-Year War with Italy which granted Hitler with control over the Adriatic Sea. They even managed to get more land thanks to the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact, which gave them control over a majority of Poland, and control of Lithuania. So the Nazis go to where they are now in 1956 thanks to a few wars, a few deals, and a few coups. But only time will tell whether the ideas of Lebensraum can really work with the Fuhrer’s cautiousness.

– The Empire of Japan:
After the signing of the Treaty of Nagasaki, which ended the back and forth slug called the Great Pacific War, Japan tried to spread it influence across the rest of East Asia. Since the Treaty they signed prohibited them from conquering the territories of western countries like Britain and the United States, they decided to strike at the Soviets: starting the Second Russo-Japanese War. Said war once again ended in stalemate after the Soviets dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Xinjing, Manchukuo. In a world where there are 4 competitors to the Land of the Rising Sun and the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere, Japan must be careful or, it’ll cost them their East Asian empire.

– France and Britain:
With the failure of the Eastern War with the Soviets, two of Western Europe’s Strongest countries decided that they needed to be able to stand up for themselves if they want to have a chance at preventing the spread of Fascism, Nazism, and Communism. That is where the idea of a commonwealth of nations was created, because separately France and Britain are strong, but together there is a hope that the world will be theirs. But with the colonies now wanting their independence, only time will tell how this experiment will go.

– Soviet Union:
After winning the Great Patriotic war against the western powers, and securing their territories in East Asia: the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics has become a very powerful nation and a well feared enemy. Whether it be the Soviets having the largest operational army on earth, or the Soviets having the second largest nuclear arsenal of any country. The Soviets make it clear that even a nation like Germany were to invade them, it would take longer than hoped for and may even result in defeat for the said invader. But with Stalin dead, only god knows how far this union could go until it fragments.

hope you enjoy.
