Persia Rising
COMPATIBLE WITH 1.20 & MANDATE OF HEAVEN:
This mod attempts to overhaul Persia and the greater Middle East area, by adding new events, government types, ideas, and decisions. As well as other minor changes.
The Middle East, specifically anything that isn’t Ottoman is very neglected by Paradox. The leaders don’t have birth/death dates. Most countries have any events, or very few, if they have any they almost entirely revolve around the Ottomans. The entire region is balanced with the mindset of "this will belong to the Ottomans eventually". It’s why historical Gold mines aren’t located in Persia, why the development of nearby countries is so low, etc… This mod attempts to fix that.
The mod overhauls Persia, the Timurids, the Mamluks, Qara Qoyunlu, Ak Qoyunlu, the Mughals and improves Georgia, the Uzbeks, Bukharans, and Sibir. It also overhauls the Arabian Peninsula, giving unique ideas to Yemen, and a new starting nation, as well as large province trade goods/modifier changes. Most of the nations have received new ideas, decisions and missions, but the main focus page will be Persia. Information for these countries can be found in the "Discussion" folders of the mod page.
- Traditions: +0.5 Yearly Army Tradition | +15% Morale of Armies
- Support the Qizilbash: +1 Land Leader Shock | +10% Cavalry to Infantry Ratio
- Re-establish Satrapies: -0.05 Monthly Autonomy | -10% State Maintenence
- Reforms of Ismail I: +10% Infantry Combat Ability
- Expand the Caravansaries: +25% Caravan power
- Persian Architecture: -10% Development Cost
- Encourge Persian Arts & Crafts: +10% Good Produced Modifier | +5% Production Efficiency
- Indian Ocean Trade: +10% Global Trade Power
- Amibitions: +33% National Manpower Modifier
- Changed the terrain type of nearly 100 provinces.
- Changed the trade good of more than 100 provinces.
- These changes were made with historical and modern spread of resources. Historically Iraq was the breadbasket of various MENA empires, and the Ottomans/Persians did a tug-of-war for it for over 150 years. The gold mines in Zanjan and Kerman are both historical, the main source of gold for the region throughout history, both still active to this day.
- For more map change info, see the DISCUSSION folder.
- Qizilbash Uprising: Requires the year 1550-1625, and having accepted the Qizilbash as an entity earlier in the game. Starts a very destating disaster that spawns Noble rebels, Pretender rebels, and Qizilbash rebels. Similar to the Castilian Civil War, it has a chance to spread to more provinces in the empire every year.
- Added the Qizilbash Estate, a hybrid of Nobles/Clergy/Cossaks with their own unique modifiers as well as events. They have 3 unique events, and 6 based/tweaked from Nobles/Clergy
- Added the Persian Government type.
- Persian Government: Vassal Income: 33/33/50% | Tolerance True Faith: 1/1/2 | Monthly Autonomy Reduction: 0/.025/.05
- The Persian Government type also enables the Harem, and Harem events.
- Added the following historical rivals: Bukhara | Mughals | Timurids | Uzbeks | Qara Quyunlu | Khorasan
- Removed Persian cores from Gilan | Mazandaran | Golestan
- Removed Persian cores from the Khorasan area.
- Transfered Golestan to Tabarestan and removed the Timurid core.
- Added a birth date and death date for the following Shahs: Ismail I | Tahmasp I | Abbas the Great
- Added set personality traits for the same three Shahs to accuratly reflect their decisions/reign.
- Adding dates for the Shahs will enable them to be historically accurate, you will no longer have a 40 year old Shah Ismail in 1500 (he was 13 by then).
- In the vanilla game, Persia has 21 events, 0 decisions, 0 missions. 3 of the events are for the formation of Persia, if Persia does NOT exist these occur. 4 events are related to the Ottomans, and triggered by their actions, and 2 events are essentially 1 stapled together. This leaves a total of 14 real events.
- This mod adds 23 Harem events, 16 Country events, 7 Advisor events, 5 Flavor events, 9 Estate events for Persia alone, and more than 150 for the entire MENA region.
- For the Harem, 15 are based off of Ottoman Harem events, 8 unique to Persia.
- The flavor events provide very minor rewards, but are more for insight into events that occured in the time.
- For specifics for Events & Decisions, see the sub-folder that labels them all as well as their triggers.
- Added 20 new missions.
- Missions were made with the original expansion of the empire in mind. Shah Ismail conquered Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Eastern Turkey, and parts of Afghanistan in 13 years. To help emulate that missions were added that gave claims to large areas of land with very short lasting, but strong rewards.
- REQUIRES RES REPUBLICA FOR FACTION EVENTS
- The Mamluks are heavily overhauled in this mod and received a new government, 5 events, 2 missions and more than 55 faction events.
- Mamluk Sultanate: +1/1/2 Tolerance of Heathens | +10/10/15% Cavalry to Infantry Ratio | -0/0.025/0.05 Monthly Autonomy change.
- Mamluk Sultanate also has three Factions, The Mamluks, The Ulema, The Copts. The government type cannot royal marry, and heirs are chosen by election. Each faction puts a candidate from the "Mamluk" army. Depending on your candidate, and what faction is in control your government behaves differently. Copts behave more like a Republic, The Ulema more like a Theocracy, and The Mamluks more like a Monastic Order.
- 55 events are based on the new faction system. The direction of the country and the events you get are based on the HEIR not the ruler. Matching a faction candidate and keeping that faction in power grants you strong rewards, and if they rule for more then 30 years as heir, a large powerful event occurs unique for each faction.
- For more Mamluk info, see the DISCUSSION folder.
- I plan on adding an additional unique disaster for Persia, the Mamluks and the Timurids.
- An additional 5 Flavor events, 7 Harem events, and 5 Country events are planned.
- Adding more unique events, and interactions with the Qizilbash estate.
- increasing the name pool for randomly created people to more accurately reflect Persian naming/culture.
- Adding named (but not event based/discounted) adviors for a more unique but purely flavor aspect.
- Continuing to tweak numbers for various modifiers/events to be balanced as well as enjoyable.
