Description:
Welcome to Longridge!

Longridge is a challenging logging map set within a large mountain range. Many fast flowing streams carve their way through the landscape, cutting canyons through the hills before eventually joining together to form two large rivers that divide the map. Longridge is all about the scenic views, mountain roads and steep terrain.

This is a highly detailed map which has been designed and tested on the vanilla version of the game with stock vehicles. Despite the high level of detail, the map is perfectly stable under these conditions. However, if you like using lots of mod vehicles, I would highly recommend the unoffical 4GB patch. This patch increases the available memory and prevents crashes with certain combinations of high detail mod vehicles. I also recommend keeping the number of installed mods in the game to a minimum. Even when mods aren’t in use, they add a higher load on the whole game causing instabilites. Unsubscribe from unused mods to keep your game stable.

The map is packed with different roads and trails meaning there’s always a different route to choose to suit your vehicle and load. Many roads become tight, technical tracks that skirt the cliff edges. Others open up into wide, muddy logging routes. Some roads take the long and steady route around the canyons while some traverse the slopes more directly, leading to some serious hill climbs and descents. Choice is the defining principle of this map, although the terrain can be quite restrictive in your off-road options. Feel free to leave the roads and go exploring, but watch out for the steep drops, muddy river banks and flooded forests.

The map uses only vanilla assets and textures. I don’t use custom scenery, if the current tools are good enough for the devs, then they’re good enough for me. This also helps to keep the performance stable, and with a map this detailed that’s something I had to prioritise. I know the stock scenery can get a little repetitive but I’d rather release a stable map that runs well than a map with tons of variety but crashes constantly.

The file contains two separate maps, Longspring and Longfall. The two maps are almost identical, but they each have different starting conditions, hidden vehicles and texture sets. Both maps have lots of hidden vehicles to find, but most of them will need to be recovered, repaired or refuelled.

Longfall is not for the casual player. You have to work hard to unlock the first garage, it’s quite a challenge.
