Vokul "The fateful" is a man with a hard past and an even tougher fate. Born from the bond between a human and a demon, he was born as a changeling, which meant a short and painful life. His "foster parents" tried to love him, but like any changeling, he was unbearable.
One morning, before even the stars had gone out, his mother took little Vokul to the depths of the forest and left him there, wiping her face from tears. Hungry and exhausted, he wandered through the woods until he came across the molfar Klementiy Bondar, who immediately recognized WHAT he was facing. Klementiy was obliged to rid the world of the evil one, but when he raised his axe… he couldn’t. Leaving the little changeling in the forest was an even more cruel death, so at his own risk, young molfar took Vokul with him.
The first years of his education were nearly impossible, but the molfar bravely faced all the challenges he faced. Little Vokul learned to read, write, etiquette and the molfar’s profession.
Vokul grew up, and eventually he was indistinguishable from an ordinary child, and the molfar was very proud of that. However, at the same time, he was filled with boundless sorrow for the fate of his "son." As a half- human with a soul bleached of demonic influence, he could have put an end to the Forest Tyrant. The Forest tyrant, The King of the evil, The Scourge of misfortune – Viy. With his help, the evil spawns changelings, travelers die on the trails and witches send curses.
When Vokul was old enough, Klementiy told him the truth about where he came from and what he could do about it. It was a difficult conversation, but in the end Vokul gave Klementiy one more reason to be proud of him, as he promised that he would accomplish his destiny.
