They were genetically engineered using and building upon human DNA as a template removing all functions deemed unnecessary for combat and greatly enhancing those that could help with combat. They also had their brains heavily genetically augmented removing anything that made them human and as such hindered them in their duties such as overwhelming responses to pain, empathy, and generally emotion. However after the suggestion by [ACCESS LEVEL TOO LOW] they replaced those emotions with arbitrary concepts as he would be the one spending a large majority of his time around them and wanted something more than hollow husks. They had also after the [ACCESS LEVEL TOO LOW] decided to arm their most powerful assets with a failsafe. that failsafe being that a failure of loyalty would never occur in the first place as they had made it so their brains did not have the ability to even contemplate betraying the foundation for themselves or not following any directive or order sent to them by their designated commander.
