Operation Cobra
After People’s Republic of Vietnam forces seized the Riau Archipelago alongside USSR surface forces, the South China Sea has been contested and dangerous for allied shipping. NATO is providing air support based out of Singapore, but PRV forces remain encamped on the Riau Archipelago and are endangering shipping. Task Force 75.3 has been ordered to eliminate all forces on the southwestern approaches to the Riau Archipelago. USS Long Beach (CGN-9) has been directed to take charge of TF 75.3 while USS Mississippi (CGN-40) continues repairs.
