CLG Little Rock 80’s Modernization
With their extensive flag facilities and powerful gun armament, USS Little Rock and USS Oklahoma City were slated for a full modernization and rehabilitation in the early 1980s, which would have seen modern weaponry added and the majority of their systems overhauled. While historically the funds for this project were diverted elsewhere, this mod explores a possible refit of the old cruisers.
Modernizations include:
– RGM-109B and 109C Tomahawks- TASMs and TLAMs for enhanced standoff range striking power.
– SM-1ER SAMs- Mark 7 launcher retrofitted to fire extended range SM-1s.
– RIM-7 SAMs- Short range SAM systems for increased survivability per historic plans.
– Phalanx CIWS- Close in weapons per historic plans.
– RGM-84 Harpoons- Standard ASM fitted as with most USN cruiser late modernizations.
