Gene Vault – Future Era Wonder(1.1)

The Gene Vault is a Future Era Wonder that completely reshapes agricultural management.
Inspired by Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth, this wonder serves as the final booster for humanity’s expansion beyond Earth and a long-term investment for the future.
Building this wonder will fundamentally alter the concept of food production.
Can your civilization overcome the collapse of traditional agriculture and embrace a new paradigm?
Despite the numerous "Wonder Mods" available on Steam Workshop, almost no one has addressed Future Era Wonders.(Surprisingly, Some wonders should belong in the Future Era but are instead categorized in the Information Era! even based on their mechanics, power levels, and lore! )
This is understandable. Many early 20th-century future predictions failed. Ambitious megaprojects were canceled for practical reasons.Even sci-fi gadgets from pop culture have either fallen behind reality or disappeared due to societal controversies. So who would dare define the wonders of the future?

That’s why I aim to create a set of Future Era Wonders—ones you can reasonably agree upon—by adapting Tier 1 Tech Web Wonders from Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth into the Civilization VI framework.
According to Firaxis’ official lore, we can make an educated guess about the future of the Civilization series:
It is defined by The Great Mistake and the Seeding Project.
I will continue working on additional Future Era Wonders for this project.
✅ Require Civic: Exodus Imperative
✅ Strategic Placement Requirement:
Must be built adjacent to a Preserve district.
✅ Base Bonuses:
* +2 Diplomatic Victory Points upon construction.
* generates + 20 Food.
* Free Builder to assist in the initial adaptation to the new agricultural system.
✅ Science Victory Related Features:
* Resets another player’s Exoplanet Expedition progress to 0.
(Functionally, if the player does not own the gene vault wonder, but the wonder has been built in-game, it grants a one-time -50 science victory progress debuff.)
✅ Powered Bonuses:
(Through nuclear power plants, etc.)When powered produces the same amount of production, gold and science instead of food,
but the city’s Amenity decreases by -5.
✅However, until Future Tech is researched:
All bonus resources (Farms, Fishing Boats, Camps, Pastures, and Plantations) do not produce any Food(-50).
Instead, they provide:
+3 Production
+3 Gold
+1 Faith
✅After Future Tech is researched (Repeatable):
Bonus resources permanently gain +2 Food but lose -2 PRODUCTION, -2 GOLD, and -2 FAITH.
Humanity has long considered the question of stocking a given world. Human mythology abounds with people tasked with carrying the seeds of the past with them to new worlds: Noah, Freeman Lowell, Lutunasobasoba and Degei, for example. The Gene Vault is a cryonic shelter, a preservation bank utilizing advanced cryogenic technology that allows genetic material to be stored without damage. Built with Earth’s limited resources, the Gene Vault is designed to preserve the genetic codes of Earth’s flora and fauna, ensuring they can endure the harsh, unpredictable conditions of alien planets.
As approach the inflection point—a moment when complete resource depletion and the subsequent collapse of all space industries may isolate Earth from the rest of the cosmos—this Gene Vault may become the only legacy through which Earth’s remaining inhabitants and the descendants of the first settlers can learn about the lives, cultures, and state of their ancestral planet. Without these genetic records, our descendants’ understanding of Old Earth may become as vague as the memory of Uruk in the Epic of Gilgamesh. For instance, even stories of New Yorkers might be transformed into myths: tales of kings and queens feasting on ‘bagels’ made of seaweed plankton and cultured protein, offered alongside the elixir of mysterious seeds known as ‘coffee’, all under the sacred ‘Empire State Hotel’ in the ‘Manhattan Kingdom.’
1. Revolutionary Future Agriculture System
Constructing the Gene Vault completely halts food production from bonus resources.
Civilizations must adapt by securing alternative food sources while benefiting from increased production and economy.
2. Strategic City Management & Resource Allocation
Shifting from food dependency to industrial and economic growth requires careful city planning.
New strategies are needed to overcome food shortages.
3. Stop another player’s Science Victory.
Are you on the brink of defeat as another civilization’s expedition to an alien planet is almost upon you?
Use this wonder to inform them of their lack of preparation and subsequent failure.
Compatible with all official DLCs and expansions (Rise & Fall, Gathering Storm).
No additional dependencies required.
Works well with other wonder mods, but balance adjustments may be needed.
