Half-Life: Absolute Zero Maps
Absolute Zero is a HL1 mod that aims to recreate beta content of original Half-Life. They did a great work during developement, but sadly the mod is dead atm.
I was able to port and finish (kinda) few maps from the mod, thanks to the sources they released.
Features
- Maps are merged by chapters, meaning that one map = one chapter
- Used areas from newest version of maps that weren’t present in mod
- Added extra details
- Fixed brushwork and possible bugs
- NPC models replaced to their beta variants
- Playable campaign for Half-Life Co-op
Chapters currently done
- The Portal Device (az_01, az_01a)
- Anomalous Materials (az_02)
- Office Warrens (az_03)
- We’ve Got Hostiles (az_04)
- Screams and Whispers (az_05)
- Footfall (az_06)
Notes
- Half-Life Source content is still required
- For beta NPCs like Panthereye, Human Sergeant, etc install Half-Life Resurgence addon and they will appear on maps
- This HUD is strongly recommended
- While playing in Sandbox, you’ll encounter some issues:
- Wrong items from breakables or NPCs
- Sitting scientists stuck in ground (az_01)
- Overlapping music tracks
- Weird houndeye hitbox
- Not working level transitions in multiplayer
- Players stuck in each other after teleports
- Unnecessary shining on textures
- Some other minor stuff I don’t remember
All these issues were solved in Half-Life Co-op gamemode, so it’s recommended to play maps in it.
