Description:

Removes [BENIGN] tag from most creatures that have it, using efficient methods that maximize compatibility. All changes have been made with minimal code, surgically making the changes without cutting/replacing creature data. This means this mod should have zero compatibility issues and will never need an update so long as the game’s data doesn’t radically change.

Creatures with the [BENIGN] tag are less prone to violence and often will not defend themselves, your fort, or your dwarfs, unless forced. They often run away from combat, which can make them poor fighters. This will cause all of the previously more pacifist creatures to become more prone to combat and more likely to defend themselves. This could end up making things more dangerous depending on biome.

This mod is primarily meant to be used with my mod (or any other) that makes most creatures War and Hunting trainable, as the BENIGN tag will kneecap their combat ability even after training.

Does not modify pack animals!
– This is because removing the [BENIGN] tag from these creatures can potentially break their ability to be used by caravans.

Does not modify vermin!
– There is no point in doing so, due to the way vermin creatures work.

This mod does include all Giant creatures and Animal Persons that can wind up inheriting the BENIGN tag from their base creature types.

LOAD ORDER:
This mod should not cause any crashes or bugs no matter the load order, but in case you have another mod that uses the CUT/REPLACE method of editing creatures, load this mod as close to the bottom of the list to make sure it’s changes do not get overwritten. This mod will not overwrite or disable the changes of any other mods.

WANT TO LEARN HOW ITS MADE?
If you are interested in modding Dwarf Fortress, I have put together a guide to show efficient methods of making various tweaks to the game’s creatures, that aren’t well documented elsewhere.
