DEI Spartan Agoe trained, morale and stats & Swordsmen/Pike Population class change
The mod very very very VERY slightly increases the stats of the general’s bodyguard and last 2 phases of spartan hoplites. Just…just a tiny nudge in stats so that they are very slightly above the most elite late game infantry units in the game(mainly compared to other spearmen/hoplites units like themselves like Carthaginian Sacred Band)
More over all 3 get morale boosts, if the agoe training is back and they are all well trained then "come back with this shield or upon it" still applies, they should not be routing under any circumstances.
The other thing is that going by the description it makes no sense that the thorax swordsmen of Sparta which for other factions are second class citizens, should be using up the first class citizen pool of sparta, I view that as a mistake in game balance. If it hadn’t been for the update to DEI that gave Sparta those more elite Periokoi hoplites then things would be even worse in Sparta’s total inability to genuinely rely on their second class citizens mid to late game. but that’s not enough, they ought to have access to swordsmen recruited from periokoi, so I made that change. The exact same change was also made for Spartan Pikemen, what is all this talk about social reforms, bigger manpower pools, if you are still only using the first class citizens for everything which are scarce to begin with.
Way I see it, this makes a lot more sense, first class citizens of Sparta should be strictly for the Spartan hoplites and Agoe trained Spartan hoplites, everything else that compose their armies should be coming from the vast populations of the empire you as the gamer is building, from the periokoi to fill other roles, be it pikemen, swordsmen, peltast, etc, and the way the social classes for Sparta are treated and which units can be recruited from them ought to be the same way as it is for other Hellenic factions, units of equivalent strength can be recruited from second class for everyone else but Sparta is the exception…didn’t like that so I changed it.
UPDATE: made the mod compatible with the Settlers SUBMOD for DeI
