Spicy Custom Orders
Adds a bunch of custom government types (mostly Holy Orders) to CK2 Vanilla and extra mechanics:
- Nun Orders: Enatic Orders that enforce equality on vassals of the same religion, can hold Temples in any county and Castles and Tribes in counties with the right religion.
- Sisterhoods: Enatic Orders that enforce enatic succession on vassals of the same religion, can hold Temples in any county and Castles and Tribes in counties with the right religion, can marry using targeted decisions and have custom succession laws.
- Missionaries: Have an upgradable mercenary vassal instead of an Holy Order army, can hold Temples in any county and Cities and Tribes in counties with the right religion and have access to Seniority succession as well as an elective one. Can also marry because technically they don’t count as Holy Orders.
- Warrior Orders: Holy Orders with very strong military buffs, can hold Castles and Tribes in any county and have access to a special elective succession.
- Pirate Republics: Merchant Republics less concerned with trade and more with raiding and looting, with various buffs to levy size & reinforcement and bonuses to light inf and similar units, can hold Cities and Castles in any county and Tribes in counties with the right culture, they also ignore religious and gender differences.
- Extra buildings available to the new governments. (And vassals, in certain cases)
- Holy Orders are now able to interact with off-map China.
- Custom decisions to turn independent Duchies into one of the new government types.
- Custom decisions to create some of the new custom titles.
- Checks added to allow players to play as a Holy Order vassal and have actual succession laws.
- A game rule to avoid gameovers when changing ruling dynasty while playing as an Holy Order.
And a bunch of game rules to customize gameplay (under "SCO Rules"):
- Holy Order availability, Holy Order marriages, Holy Order tribal holding management, enabling/restricting/disabling the new Religious Takeover Casus Belli.
- Non-dynastic succession rule for Holy Orders.
- Merchant Republic Gender Equality.
- An option for Feudal Empires to adopt the Imperial government type.
- An option to loosen requirements for Chinese Imperial.
- An optional Imperial Pretender government type for core Duchies and Kingdoms spread around the old Empire.
- A rule to make vassals of imperial governments (Chinese/Roman/Pretender) use imperial governments as well.
- A "Play as…" option to enable a targeted decision to change character in-game on the fly.
Notes:
- The list of needed DLCs is just guesswork, some parts of it should still work without any DLC
- Tested and fully compatible with Vanilla, tested and working in Umbra Spherae Reborn, should be compatible with similar TCs that don’t change governments around much.
- Vanilla Orders are playable if they are active but require starting a game with another character first then switching to that order’s title holder via console or by using "Play as…".
- CK2’s implementation of Enatic governments is quite buggy so Nun Orders and Sisterhoods have some quirks to them to circumvent the game’s limitations. They shouldn’t affect gameplay in any significant way.
- Due to how Holy Orders work in Vanilla you’ll have to choose your successor for elective government types at each game load, unfortunately I could find no way around this.
- It is now possible to change primary title and keep your special gov type (doesn’t work on vanilla Holy Orders) so you can make standard kingdom titles while being a custom Holy Order. Doing so can cause issues during succession but also lets players play standard govs and have a vassal with a custom gov type at the same time by giving away the special title.
- Some code, like Theocratic Elective and the Non-dynastic succession logic for Holy Orders, has been borrowed from the mod "New Era Old World". This mod has been inspired by their take on Holy Orders as well so I’d like to thank that mod’s creators for their hard work.
