Berlin U-Bahn Classes D&G
The Berlin U-Bahn opened in 1902 and has used a variety of different rolling stock over the years. This mod includes the Berlin U-Bahn D and G classes.
The Class D is an electric multiple unit originally deployed on the West Berlin U-Bahn in 1957. They are of the large profile type and replaced older pre WWII large profile stock which was beginning to wear out at the time. They were produced up until 1973, by a number of companies including AEG, O&K, Siemens and Waggon Union. In 1989, a number of units were sold to BVB, the operators of the East Berlin U-Bahn, for use on the new line to Hönow. They began being withdrawn from service towards the end of the 1990s and were almost entirely phased out by 2004, with the exception of some preserved examples. However, a number were sold to the Pyongyang metro in North Korea, where they were repainted and continue to operate to this day.

The Class G meanwhile are small profile electric multiple units produced by LEW Hennigsdorf between 1974 and 1989 for use on the East Berlin U-Bahn. Following the reunification of Germany, BVG found themselves with a surplus of U-Bahn trains and a number were sold to North Korea in 1997 for use on the Pyongyang Metro, however following safety concerns stemming from a number of control stand fires, the units were repurposed as mainline passenger trains, having their current collection shoes removed and replaced with a more typical diamond pantograph. They remain in service to this day, in both Berlin and North Korea.
