Description:

By popular request, this is the M96 Mattock Heavy Rifle. This weapon is available in your armory for Grenadier units as an alternative to wielding a Cannon. The semi-auto fire ability of an assault rifle with the stopping power of a sniper rifle, the Mattock is a mighty beast and requires cannon weapons training to masters its capabilies.

M96 Mattock;

The Mattock is a hybrid weapon with an assault rifle’s low heat production and a sniper rifle’s punch. Marksmen favor its increased power over that of an assault rifle to bring down hardened targets. Its lack of a full-auto setting is advertised as a feature rather than a shortcoming as it curbs a soldier’s tendency to spray inaccurate fire under stress.

LW2 Compatability Patch (untested)

I had to use a LOT of artistic licence to get this thing in to Xcom2. The model is nuts, and has thousands of poly’s for minimal detail features. The Avenger model is a really nice clean and simple model, the Mattocks model by comparison is almost 3x as complex. This accounts for the rather large size of the download for a single weapon, as the model (even after edits) still has over 3000 triangles.

So I was basically forced to chop off the back end almost completely just to reduce the scale of the thing, and get it vaguely close to Xcom sizes. This means no Mattock stock or curved grip since both take up a lot of space that causes major clipping issues.

Happily it turns out the Mag Assault Rifle has a stock thats not that far off the Mattocks. So….it still looks like a Mattock, ……just. The grip is the standard Xcom version, but once its in hand you wont really notice it.

*NOTE*
Attachements DO NOT appear on the weapon; This is NOT a bug, its a design decision to keep the weapon from looking "fugly as hell" with attachments added. This is purely cosmetic, and stats will update when attachments are added.
