Expanded Characters 1.0 (DEI submod)
This is an improved version of my old mod Realistic Generals and Admirals. As of now this mod just addresses generals and generals acting as governors in DEI. I will be tweaking here and there. I have tested everything so far and it seems good to go, let me know if there are any issues. This is compatible with all mods as nothing touches the attribute tables that I’ve seen, it is also save game compatible.
This mod adds effects to the 3 attributes in the game. Authority, Subterfuge and Zeal.
Authority
Morale for the generals army starts at -15 and goes up to +20. This is starts at authority 1 and goes to 20. Remember -15 is at 1 which few generals have, also all generals start low so its balance to start.
Party Loyalty
This is different from my last mod in a couple ways. While a character has little authority, or little political power/gravitas, he is loyal. This starts at auth 1 to auth 12 with 1 loyalty up to +12. But as a characters achieves more power he starts to become less loyal, think Caesar or Sulla. They had their reasons but so will your characters.
So from auth 13-20 a character will have loyalty 10 to -30.
Simulating the idea that soldiers want to serve with this general in foreign campaigns for the booty. Since by Auth 15 this general has shown that he is a winner and soldiers wanted to serve with winners in all times but particularly ancient times. At Auth 15-20 this generals army will have less upkeep from -15 to -35%. (Ive been reading a lot of Caesar recently and he once gave each soldier a slave during the Gallic campaign. One slave was worth a years pay for a common soldier. This is why they will take less regular pay to serve with this commander.
Finally ala Caesar the more powerful a character gets the more likely he is to be assassinated. Starting at auth 1 a general will have a -35% chance to be killed, but as it goes up that will end at a +30% chance at the height of power.
Subterfuge
This represents a characters savvy, skill and cunning. If he is garrisoned or acting as a governor he will be able to get the best price on his buildings ala Crassus. This goes from +30 to -50%.
In the field he can setup an Ambush if skilled as good as Hannibal. This starts at -30 and goes up to +40.
Finally, and this one will need extensive testing but he would excel on the battlefield. Like Caesar at Pharsalus his troops seemed to be moving faster than Pompey’s. So Infantry and Cavalry will gain battle speed at Sub level 8 through 20. This will go from +15-60%. This seems high but since speed numbers are so low the percentages needed to be higher. Please give feedback on this.
Attacking Siege Holdout Time
To simulate the highly cunning generals ability once he hits 16-20 in subterfuge enemy sieges will be shorter by -1 at 16 through -3 to 20 subterfuge.
Zeal
Zeal represents a characters drive, will or belief in a cause. A good way to represent this on the campaign map is through movement range. This will start at zeal 1-20 and go from -25 to +35% movement range.
Naval skill – Zeal seems a good attribute to govern naval affairs. Starting at level 1 zeal and going through level 20 an admiral will have a melee attack value of -25 through +35
Acting as governor a character with high Zeal will actually be a hindrance to public order. He will demand obedience to a cause or persecute an "outside group". This will look as such, from Zeal 1-9 this character will give +3 to +12 PO bonus. But once he hits rank 10 is starts to go down from +10 to -15 at Zeal 20.
A highly energetic and devoted character will be able to find recruits to refill his army where others cant. This is represented by replenishment and goes like this, starting at Zeal 1 to 20 its -25 to +40 replenishment rate.
