Description:

This is a small gameplay feature modification of unit Overwatch which adds on an interpretation of Epic 40,000’s Snap-fire rules to Gladius.

Unit overwatch automatically attacks enemy units that enter unit attack range as per vanilla, HOWEVER after a unit’s initial overwatch attack, it can continue to snap-fire against additional approaching units within 1 tile range; Fortifications retain their max range due to the garrison’s comfort of aiming from behind thick armoured walls, redoubts and bunkers!

Units’ snap-fire attacks have an accuracy debuff of -84% to represent units frantically taking shots as the enemy comes in like a flood! Vehicle crews and Fortification garrisons are more capable of retaining firing focus due to the protection their armoured walls provide and don’t suffer any accuracy debuff.

BEWARE, this will make assaulting Cities more challenging as they will fire on every enemy unit which enters their range provided they haven’t used up their own action points that turn! Consider assaulting Cities with a siege mindset, bring attrition units, artillery, etc. Vehicles similarly function as mobile point defence providing covering fire to nearby allied infantry, so be wary of charging one without adequate anti-vehicle support!
