Beyond Typus – Occitan Renaissance
After more than a year of work…Welcome to Occitan Renaissance!
If you want to playtest the 1309 alternate scenario, you need a religion mod w/ Cathars and Waldensians, plus this one: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2706565882
1.30: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2706516728

Current
– Break away from the influences of Castile and France, forging new paths and identities for the nations between them.
– Wage irredentist campaigns, or attempt to unite your homelands diplomatically.
– Revive the era of the Trobadors. Hire them at your court, or become one yourself.
– Profit from your tolerance. Appoint Islamic scholars to drive innovation even further.
– Construct the historical Languedoc and Garonne canals for a trade bonus, and expand the combined canal in a new third phase to allow your navy through.
– The most detailed tags in the game. The Occitan nations contain hundreds of true-to-dialect names, including more than 300 *per tag* for leaders alone. A similar level of detail is planned for the Catalan Countries, and–if possible–for Aragon and Arpitania.
– Thousands of province names in the individual Occitan dialects, plus a smaller number in Aragonese, Catalan, Poitevin-Saintongeais, and Arpitan.
– Mission trees for the Occitan countries, the Arpitans, Poitevins-Saintongeais. Slight additions to the Catalan trees, plus Aragon and Bourbonnais.
– Minor localization+terminology tweaks. Ex. Poitevin (to represent Poitevin-Saintongeais) -> Aguiainais (a dialect-neutral, but common, word for it).
And much more.
– Crusader missions.
Planned/WIP
– Major Optimizations.
– 1309 startdate based on the althist start from Trobador’s Revenge.
– Diplomatic formation for Arpitania.
– Improvements to existing namelists.
– Jewish advisors.
– More detailed namelists for the Catalan countries, to bring them up to par with the Occitans.
– There is a small chance that accented letters won’t display correctly in certain cases.
– Occitania sometimes forms too early in the 1309 start.
– Some missions need to be updated/fixed.
– Namelists don’t automatically update when you form a new nation. To update them, save yuor game and reload it.
– Occitan often has more than one spelling for names deriving from Germanic -ald, such as "Arnaut" and "Arnaud". For consistency’s sake (and to avoid having to redo them all on a case-by-case basis), the "-aud" endings have been favored as in French, except when directly mentioning trobadors who spelled their names "-aut".
– Beyond Typus (Base Mod)
– Mesogeios (GFX)
– BT Addon: Byzantine Resurgence (Partial inspiration for this mod)
– BT Addon: Heresy! (A religion mod is required for the planned 1309 start; the mods have been tested heavily together)
– Substantial Towns and Cities – BT
Europa Graphics Mod (Used in the screenshots)
– Anmaril’s Religion Extender (As far as it’s compatible with base BT; trade goods view is bugged)
– BT Addon: Cultural Influence (Note that Occitans will be limited to their own group, and will flip to the mod culture within about a month of play.)
– Julien for his mod, Trobador’s Revenge, from which parts of this mod began as a fork.
– The Academy of St. Gabriel and their contributors, for their lists of hisotrical names.
– The Wikimedia Foundation for their research tools, historical shields, and being generally one of the largest sources for information in Occitan on the web.
– and so many more. Please see the Credits.txt in the mod file!
