The guardian angel of the elements, Bar Reygard decends to the world of aether to destroy the abyss for sure!
Bar is a glass cannon type character that trades defense for power, making him able to deal a lot of damage, and launching foes all around. However, he can also die just as easily, so be careful!
Bar has a special glide move that allows him to change direction easily in midair, and works great as a way to recovery or get a little breather.
MECHANICS:
MANA GAUGE:
Bar’s special moves are limited by a mana gauge as they have a lot of kill power, make sure to keep an eye out for your specials and when they are available.
He gains MP by attacking or getting hit by foes, aswell as getting 2 MP per sec automatically. He can also gain 10 MP by parrying.
Having a lot of mana is crucial to being able to answer different situations.
pressing down + taunt will activate "mana debug mode" which gives bar a faster natural mana regen to allow for more fluid testing
HOLY BURNING:
Holy burning is a special type of burning that burns your foes’ HP faster, but ends pretty fast. All characters that use the burn effect are NOT able to use Bar’s holy burning. (ex. zetterburn is not able to burn consume with Bar’s holy fire)
SKILL SELECT:
Bar has a total of 10 different special moves he can choose at the start of the match, allowing for a unique approach against your foes.
any skill can be in any skill slot, but he cannot choose the same skill twice.
pressing up + taunt in training mode will allows you to freely open the skill select menu and choose any combination at any time!
– Light Dagger (default N-special): At a cost of 5 MP, Bar can throw spearheads of light that pierce foes with a light hitstun, good for canceling your foes’ attacks. In midair he will throw diagnally downwards. If Bar has the Burning Fury buff on, the next light dagger he shoots will become a Burning Light Dagger, that explodes on contact, but does more damage and applies holy burn.
– Burning Fury (default F-special): When Bar has at least 50 MP, he can activate a special buff that makes his gauntlet handed attacks cast holy burn on foes, aswell as beefing up his damage output for those moves a bit. The buff also applies to most special moves, but the moves will disable burning fury’s when they are used up.
Burning fury is also able to be unleashed as a rapid blast dash attack if the input is pressed again, which is great for killing. The rapid blast dash can be disrupted on a small time frame by pressing the attack button. When pressed, Bar will stun the foe in place for a chance of a combo or a different kill move.
The burning buff applies for as long as you have mana.
– Force Leap (default U-special): For 10 MP, Bar can leap diagnally up and forward, and acts as his recovery. Bar has multiple jumps and a glide to compensate for the lack of height Force Leap might give. When Bar starts the leap he has a hitbox that can catch an unsuspecting foe. Force leap can also be angled depending if bar presses towards his direction or away, and for the cost of 10 more MP, bar can leash out a holy fire blast that inflicts holy burn.
– Photon Blast (default D-special): With 40 MP, Bar can hold down the photon blast input and when released, he will burst out a big holy light blast that covers a big area. The more Bar charges, the harder it is to take him out of the charge, with the 2nd charge giving him soft armor, and the final charge giving him super armor, However Bar can’t do anything while charging, so it’s better to use it when a foe cannot react.
– Accel Blitz: With 10 MP, Bar can stop in place, and decide of a position to travel to in lightspeed. Use the joystick or arrow keys to move around the indicator that will decide where bar will reappear.
– Chasm Burster: Bar strikes the ground for 30 MP, creating powerful holy fire blasts that burst from the ground to hit foes below. In the air, Bar will need to fall down to the ground first, similarly to zetterburn’s D-special. the holy fire blast apply holy burn.
– Guard Aura: If Bar has at least 50 MP, he can use Guard Aura to protect himself from a single incoming hit. The aura applies for as long as you have mana, and if he is hit by any attack Bar will shoot out a small blast that hitstuns foes. It’s ment to work as a counter, and he is invincible for very few frames of the counter.
– Ember Fist: For 10 MP, Bar can shoot out a short, angleable holy fire stream that does continious chip damage and hitstun and applies holy burn.
these skills below are not available yet, but will be on version 1:
– Power Smash: Bar leaps forward and punches a crater in the ground that burns foes that stand on it. Power Smash also works as a short air dodge/counter attack.
– Light Hookshot: If Bar has 20 MP, he can throw a full light spear forward along with a light chain. If the spear hits someone while it flies forward it will bring them to Bar, allowing him to do a stunning hit and combo the foe. If Bar misses the spear and chain will dissolve. Using Light Hookshop, Bar can also fling himself into walls for a long horizontal recovery. When Bar has the Burning Fury buff, the spear will explode on contact.
It’s not recommended to try recovering with it while it’s applied.
