Welcome to AGOT Map Textures for Vanilla which, as the name suggests, ports over and replaces the vanilla CK3 terrain textures with those from the A Game of Thrones mod, which are much more detailed and (in my opinion) more realistic. Highly recommended for players like myself who think the base game textures make the terrain look too cartoony/vibrant, plastic and/or overly smooth in appearance.

The Darker Water mod (featured in the above screenshots), while not essential, is highly recommended. As the name suggests, it makes the in-game water much darker and I think compliments this mod nicely.

NOTE: This mod does not utilise the AGOT mod’s snow texture. While it looks fine in AGOT it, from my testing, looked very blotchy and unnatural on the base game map. As such this mod still uses the vanilla snow texture.

Compatibility

This mod should be compatible with almost any other mod, so long as it doesn’t alter terrain textures. Mods that alter the paper map (zoomed out) appearance or adds new map fonts etc. will work fine with this. In fact, while I haven’t tested it, it can probably be used with mods that completely change the shape of the map, so long as they don’t alter map terrain textures.

This mod only alters image files and a single, very small, terrain settings file and is thus fully compatible with existing saves. It also means that this mod will almost certainly never need updating in the future, even after Paradox has expanded the map to include the rest of Asia.

NOTE: These textures are generally of higher fidelity when compared to the base game ones so it may impact your performance, especially for those playing on low-end PCs!
