Beijing Subway Line 1, the first urban subway line built in China, began trial operation on October 1, 1969n. The line starts from Gugu Station in the west and ends at Sihui East Station in the east during the station closure at Pingguoyuan Station.
The Beijing Subway Baitong Line is the fourth subway line completed and in operation in Beijing, China. It opened for operation on December 27, 2003 for Phase I (Sihui to Tuqiao) and on December 28, 2019 for Phase I of the South Extension Project (Tuqiao to Huazhuang).
The route of Beijing Subway Line 1 and the Baitong Line is parallel between Sihui Station and Sihui East Station. Due to the interchange mode at Sihui Station and Sihui East Station, passengers travelling from the city center to Tongzhou area have increased travel time (especially during rush hours). In order to Through-operation as soon as possible, improve the service level and facilitate passengers’ travel, Beijing Subway company has organized and completed two retrofitting turnouts and the signal, transmission and other professional renovations at this stage, and the Subway line 1 and the Batong line have the physical through condition. Beijing Subway Line 1 and the Baitong Line are expected to achieve Through-operation by the end of 2021.
