1979 Tensions Rise – Europe
In Europe, tensions have never been higher since the events of the last world war. The allied governments of the world have been battered and beaten and the balance of power in the world has fallen into jeapordy.
The great powers of the US and the German Reich are in a nuclear standoff and the conflict is only escalating further as it becomes clearer and clearer that mankind is on the brink of destroying itself in nuclear armageddon. Countries are scrambling to join alliances and the population is beginning to stack up on food and water which is resulting in shortages around the world. As a result, many third-world countries are subject to collapse by 2001.
The German Reich has come out victorious as the sole superpower of the continent and due to its various nuclear tests in the Sahara desert, it has left it unhabitable and riddled with anarchy.
After reaching a stalemate in 1948 and a proper peace treaty in 1951, the Axis Powers of Europe had mostly come out victorious with the exception of the Empire of Japan after it had been defeated in 1945 by the Nationalist Chinese and the Americans.
But now, nuclear war has never been closer and scientists from across the world are questioning whether mankind will make it to the new millenium, also known as the year 2000.
