Description:

Second of five 15 x 15 km maps I created for variety and interesting tactical challenges suitable for the 1960s – 90s era of modern warfare. I plan to design sample scenarios for each map and release them when I have time.

Like the first map in this series, this is made from actual elevation data from south eastern Pennsylvania near the start of the Appalachians, but this is rougher and hillier terrain and is located near a small stream network that flows through the hills, with some fordable water and bridges. Despite the rugged terrain and heavy vegetation, there is still key terrain with preferred choices for fighting positions with overlapping mutually supporting fields of fire. Like all maps in this series, even the heavily forested areas have access trails for timber cutting, hunting, etc, so it is alwasy possible to find some mobility corridor to support a mission without having to go all the way around the map. I kept the water fordable on this map, even though it probably isn’t just to create more options for whoever is playing the eastern side of the map. I think this map works well for formations from any time in this era.
