Z-8
The Z-8 (Chinese code: Z-8, English: Changhe Z-8, Chinese name: "Shendiao"-8 [28]) helicopter [1-2] is a 13-ton multi-purpose helicopter imitated and improved by China in the 90s of the 20th century based on the French SA321 helicopter ("Super Wasp" helicopter) [3]
The Z-8 was jointly developed by the China Helicopter Design and Research Institute of Aviation Industry of China and Changhe Aircraft Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., which began to be designed in 1976 and was discontinued from 1979 to 1984. After that, the research and development work was restarted. The first prototype of the Z-8 made its first test flight on December 11, 1985, and the second prototype flew in October 1987. In December 1989, the technical appraisal of the Z-8 with some imported components was completed. In August 1994, the Z-8, which reached 86% localization rate in China, was finalized through the national design [4]
The Z-8 helicopter is a single-rotor multi-purpose helicopter with tail rotor, which has a large power reserve in the standard state, and has the characteristics of good flight performance, long service life, flight safety, easy control, easy use and maintenance, and can take off and land on the water surface in case of emergency [5]
The Z-8 is available in a variety of variants and is equipped with the Chinese Air Force, Navy and Civil Aviation Division

直-8由中国航空工业中国直升机设计研究所和昌河飞机工业（集团）有限责任公司联合研制，该型直升机于1976年开始设计，1979年至1984年设计中止。后重新启动研制工作。直-8首架原型机于1985年12月11日首次试飞，第2架原型机于1987年10月试飞。1989年12月采用部分进口部件的直-8完成技术鉴定。1994年8月中国国产化率达到86%的直-8通过国家设计定型 [4]
直-8直升机是单旋翼带尾桨多用途直升机，在标准状态下有较大的功率储备，具有飞行性能好、使用寿命长，飞行安全，操纵容易，使用维护方便，应急时可在水面起降等特点 [5]
直-8有多种改型，装备中国空军、海军和民用航空部门
