An abandoned project of a futuristic Russian tram
The R1 tram concept (71-410 "Russia One"), developed by Uralvagonzavod together with OKB "Atom", is a futuristic low-floor design, first presented in 2014 at the Innoprom exhibition in Yekaterinburg. R1 was conceived as a three-section car with two head sections and one intermediate section, connected by joints.
The tram received mixed reactions: many praised the design, but noted its impracticality and the lack of a finished bogie design. Development of the tram did not advance beyond a full-size model without a chassis, presented at several exhibitions, and the project was essentially abandoned.
Repaintable, the original black color looks best: #090909. Multi-section tram variations have been added.
