PBs 30x113mmB XM188 Autocannon(CE-Only)
Added XM188 autocannon(using 30x113mmB) and a module version for Mobile Dragoon. You can find 30×113mmB M789 (HEDP) and SAPHEI ammunition in My New Ammunition Pack.
In the game, the XM188 autocannon features 30mm-level destructive power while utilizing a lighter and more compact weapon system (50kg unloaded weight, 60kg for the Mobile Dragoon variant) and smaller ammunition (each 30×113mmB round weighs just 0.49kg and occupies 0.49 volume units). It also delivers impressive sustained firepower, but suffers from poor ammunition compatibility and below-average armor penetration.
The XM188 triple-barreled 30mm automatic cannon was developed between 1970 and 1975. Its development was intended for Bell’s YAH-63 helicopter. However, since the YAH-63 lost to Hughes’ YAH-64—which adopted a 30mm chain gun—the XM188, along with the YAH-63, was ultimately abandoned.
The XM188 was not a lightweight variant of the GAU-8 but rather an upscaled version of the M197. It could be directly installed in the A/A49E-7 turret of the M97 system, interchangeable with the M197. The ammunition it used was not the GAU-8’s 30×173mm round but the 30×113mm cartridge, which had lower chamber pressure, muzzle velocity, and recoil impulse. While its maximum rate of fire reached 2,000 rounds per minute, its practical operational rate was limited to 600–750 rounds per minute.
