Aegean Advance – Battle of the Aegean Sea
It’s August 12, 1984, Soviet forces have achieved significant victories in Europe. Greece has fallen to our advancing ground forces, and most of Turkey has surrendered, leaving only pockets of NATO-aligned resistance in the Aegean. However, the situation in the Mediterranean remains volatile. The remnants of Greek and Turkish naval forces, reinforced by elements of the U.S. 6th Fleet, have withdrawn to Crete. From this stronghold, they maintain a powerful blockade, threatening Soviet submarine movements between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. Soviet missile sites along the coasts of Greece and Turkey have driven NATO’s surface fleets further south, reducing their ability to control the open waters. This has enabled our missile platforms to operate with greater freedom, but NATO’s submarine forces remain a significant threat. The enemy has deployed a formidable undersea presence to counter our dominance, creating a complex operational environment, Commander you must take the Aegean Sea from NATO’s grasp.
