Compatibility
- This is a micro-mod that includes one single line of code.
- It should be fully compatible with every other mod, including MIV and your favorite total conversion mods.
Welcome to Hard Mode, where marriages don’t automatically give alliances.
Alliances when Marrying Off Yourself
- When you search for marriages, you will no longer see potential alliances listed in the UI unless the target is also a ruler
- Choose your target and offer the marriage/betrothal
- A – If the target was a ruler, you will get an alliance
- B – If the target was not a ruler, you will not get an alliance
- If B, use the "Negotiate Alliance" character interaction with a ruler who is also a close family member of your betrothed/spouse to see if they are willing to ally with you
Alliances when Marrying Off a Relative
- When you search for marriages, you will no longer see potential alliances listed in the UI when marrying off your relatives
- Choose your target and offer the marriage/betrothal
- The marriage/betrothal will not result in an alliance
- Use the "Negotiate Alliance" character interaction with a ruler who is also a close family member of your betrothed/spouse to see if they are willing to ally with you
Notes
- You can’t negotiate alliances through your children’s betrothals. You have to wait until the betrothal becomes a marriage. This a base game restriction.
- The UI fully works, with the marriage screen not saying you’ll get alliances from marrying your children to another ruler or to another ruler’s child.
- The marriage windows does show alliances if you are a ruler marrying another ruler and there are not "broken alliance" tray notifications because the new code never creates an alliance in the first place.
- All features also apply to the AI, though they should negotiate alliances fine.
