Description:

A realistic re-creation of the Kim Il-Sung square in Pyongyang, DPRK (North Korea).

Hundreds of online images and a couple of videos were used as reference material to create the map.

Map features:

-Kim Il-Sung square (as it was in 2015),
-viewing balcony (unknown & incomplete interior, explorable back area),
-viewing stands,
-various buildings around the square (no interior, unexploreable),
-Grand people’s study house (no interior, unexploreable),
-roughly accurate skybox of the city which includes the Juche tower, Somun street monument, Changjon street apartments, Ryugyong hotel, Taedong river and various apartments in the city skyline,
-fully nodded map.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION & WARNINGS:

-The map is not 100% accurate and lacks some of the finer details on certain buildings, balcony and skybox.
-If the cubemaps appear broken, use the mat_specular 0 command in the console to fix the issue.

This map could have been more detailed but Hammer told me that I have reached the maximum number of brushes. Additionally the vrad compile exceeded 3.8GB and crashes beyond that threshold due to the size of the lightmaps. A lot of corners were cut in regards to the lightmap scales on certain surfaces and with the detail on certain buildings in order to make the map compileable and playable.
