Description
Odakyu Romancecar Series 50000 VSE (Vault Super Express) is a limited express train that was introduced in 2005. The VSE was the flagship model built to recover the declining number of passengers in the Hakone area, and the architect who worked on the Kansai International Airport terminal was chosen for the design, which revolutionized the conventional concept of railcars. The design of this train, which incorporated a variety of other new innovations, made it the face of Odakyu, but its complicated structure resulted in its retirement at the end of 2023, bringing an end to its short 18-year service life.
