Description:
THIS MOD IS COMPATIBLE WITH LONG WAR 2

Project to add missing language VoicePacks and make them as complete and loyal to XCom 2 as possible. Adds fully upgraded Russian and Polish Voices (30 Voice Packs) & 6 more WIP including Swedish, Chinese, Dutch and Accented English.

Welcome back, commander to the XCOM2: IVP (International Voices Pack) mod. This mod adds languages and accents for soldiers’ character customization not present in the base game. Keep reading to learn more on present content, and recruitment.

RUSSIAN LANGUAGE: 9 6
POLISH LANGUAGE: 9 6
SWEDISH LANGUAGE: 1 WIP
CHINESE LANGUAGE: 1 WIP
DUTCH LANGUAGE: 2 WIP
ENGLISH ACCENTS: 4 WIP

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

We have the resources and the materials needed to make the mod come true, but we can’t add new voices if there’s no actors to record them. So here’s a callout to every voice actor who might be interested: we want you, we need you.

Do you want your voice in the game? Do you have a decent mic? Are you a decent voice actor? Can you bring to the table some language or accent the original game’s voice pool doesn’t have? Then bring it on! Be it portuguese, japanese, quebecois french, … whichever will be welcome.

WHICH VOICEPACKS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
  • International Languages, following the continuity of the base game. Ex: turkish, hebrew, chinese, etc.
  • International English Accents, AKA English language as it would be spoken by foreign people. Ex: english with spanish accent, english with french accent, etc.
  • Custom Characters. This is kind of a branch for when script adjustments go too far. It’s about English-speaking characters with a flavor, with an interesting, unique personality and custom-written lines. Ex: a cheeky cowboy kind of character, a coward character, etc.
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?

There’s two ways you can actively collaborate in the project. These are:

  1. Recording a voicepack.
  2. Translating the english script to a non-vanilla language.

Obviously recording a voicepack is difficult enough, but having to translate the script on top of that can be offputting to potential actors. If you have the time and will and are knowledgeable enough on a non-vanilla language to be able to translate the script, everybody will appreciate it. If you do, send us an email with the translated script file to our email address [email protected]. Please don’t email us asking if you can translate the script to this or that language. Quoting both Nike and Shia LeBouf: just do it.

We can’t stress enough what a long (1700 lines long) and demanding task recording a full voicepack is. It’s obviously not for everyone. But to acomplish doing that, we came up with a new, more open methodology. It goes like this:

  1. We provide you here with the VANILLA SCRIPT, our DUBBERS’ GUIDE and the VANILLA SAMPLE PACK.
  2. You record your lines (translating them if applicable), saving them in the format and naming required.
  3. Once you’ve finished recording them and only then, you pack everything into a .zip or .rar file and send it to our email [email protected].
  4. Once we have them, we’ll add the radio effect (so as to have consistency among all the voicepacks) and finally, mod them into the game.
  5. We’ll publish your voicepack in a new update.

Please remember to make sure the quality of your recording is good, that there’s no background ambient sounds and and your mic doesn’t peak.

Also, we say this a lot in the Dubbers’ Guide, but it’s way more important to be natural than to make a literal translation of the lines. Use slang if you need, but stay true to your language.

Finally, for the naming of the recorded voice cues and other technicalities, refer to the resources provided in the next section.

Transcript of the ORIGINAL SCRIPT is based on the English Female 1 Voice. Alongside that is our DUBBERS’ GUIDE, necessary to know what each voice cue relates to, and the same English Female 1 Voice we based the script off as a SAMPLE PACK. Remember XCOM2 extracted materials are all property of Firaxis. We’re just linking them here as a modding resource.

There is actually another important way you can help this mod grow. It’s as simple as to just spread the word. Share it with your friends who have the game, or with people you think might be interested in acting or translating. Exposure is the key to more people joining so this grows the way it needs to. So either share the link to the mod in the Workshop or the link to the mod in the Nexus:

This is a community driven project. Made by and for the users. Now that our work of preparing the framework is done and the most important work and efforts are being carried over by the soul of this mod, the voice actors, here you can show them your love and support, donating and encouraging them to keep up the amazing work they are doing:

  • Male Swedish 1 – DomEReapeR Donate [twitch.streamlabs.com]
  • Male Chinese 1 – Yang Donate [paypal.me]
  • USA English, Southern – Wuten Donate [www.patreon.com]
  • USA English, Sarcastc – Tanner Donate [www.paypal.me]

This (click)[www.patreon.com] is our patreon in case you wish to support the whole project and not only a specific actor. Though, we must remember you that they are the ones that make this MOD a reality.

Thanks to everybody for your interest and dedication and we hope to be modding in more languages soon enough! Keep them coming!
