Olivia has just made her tearful confession of her subterfuge to Inco in the rain. But what happens when he finds he’s unable (or unwilling) to forgive her?

Alternate telling of the chapter Art Contest Blues, with four to five hours of story and five different endings

A big, big thanks to the following for their help

Eugene, for the How to mod IWHTG! tutorial in the guides section. Very detailed instructions on how to mod without which I wouldn’t have been able to do this

Soul Sound, whose video "How to MOD THAT SNOOT! Eugene linked to. Very helpful video for learning the basics of modding

Galovich, for the tutorial on uploading mods to the workshop

Greater Rasin. Poking around Rasin’s mods helped alot. I frequently used these as a reference

Map, one of the developers for replying to a comment I left asking how to access mod files

This is the first mod I’ve ever made for a game. I’m a boomer when it comes to computers and it took me two painstaking months to make this on my own. So huge thanks to all of you.

Reasons for making this mod

>"So let me get this straight: you think choosing ‘Let her fail,’ and ‘You can still take back the reins of your life and own your mistakes’ is STILL letting Olivia off too easily???"

>"I do. And I’m tired of pretending it’s not."

After playing this game several times through, I felt compelled to write an analysis of the characters of Inco and Olivia which can be found in the guides section. The more I analyzed the chapter Art Contest Blues, the more frustrated I became with how Cavemanon handled the character of Inco (full breakdown in my analysis).

For being that Inco is supposed to be a guy with a lot to prove and a desire to be the center of attention (due no doubt to not receiving enough attention from his parents), I find it difficult to believe that he would handle what Olivia did to him so calmly and rationally, let alone be quick to forgive her (which he is no matter what choices you make). He’s supposed to be a budding narcissist as evidenced by Ending 1, and already feels jealous of Olivia for getting the attention he himself would like, particularly from her god-parents (if you choose convince her to come outside his resentment is made quite clear).

The way he exposits about her feelings and her psychological state seems to have been done purely for plot convenience, and treats his own plight like a non-issue, and not something that could potentially derail his own character growth and lead him down a darker path. I feel this to be a betrayal of his character, and puts Olivia front and center as though his own feelings don’t matter. He’s doomed to simp for her by design.

While working, I began brainstorming what it would look like if he rejected her. I imagined a scene in which Damien confronts him about it, and wrote it down. I then wrote forwards and backwards from that initial scene. I had written about 20k words of story before applying myself to the grueling task of learning to mod, and much of the story still wasn’t finished. All told, it’s between thirty and forty thousand words of story. Starting with the writing process, this took me more than two months to make.

Learning to mod this game was both frustrating and rewarding. It’s a relief to have finally finished it. I hope you enjoy it.
