Description:

Las Vegas Motor Speedway – Oval Course (1996-2005)
Track type: Historic Track

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is built in 1996, situated between Interstate 15 and Las Vegas Boulevard and co-exists with the road course on the west side of the facility. After hosting a number of races in both oval and infield configurations, the 1998 saw the inaugural running of Las Vegas 400, part of NASCAR’s Winston Cup Series, which Mark Martin won. This earned the track not only a permanent fixture in the top-tier NASCAR series (alongside other series), but gained another race starting 2017. The track also hosted IndyCar races until 2012, the same year where Dan Wheldon passed away due to the crash in that year’s race.

Despite the oval track still unchanged in terms of layout, this track is based on the pre-2005 re-build appearance (where the oval and infield tracks still connect to each other), specifically the inaugural Las Vegas 400 given the sponsors seen on the grass. Some sponsors might not be inaccurate due to the lack of source material or lack of visibility, relying on the "estimated guess" by the author.
