Zathura – Robot (Z-Machine)
So you know that movie Zathura, right? No, of course you don’t! It’s still stuck in the shadow of it’s stinkier, sh*ttier older brother Jumanji after almost 17 years! >:|
Well I remember it. I remember it very fondly, in fact. It’s one of my favorite films of all time. Not surprisingly, there’s absolutely nothing on The Workshop based off this film, so I decided I’d be the first (of hopefully many) to break the mold.
My absolute favorite part of the movie was, and still is, The Robot. This bulky behemoth was always such a spectacle to see, considering most of is was made with practical effects. I originally wanted to do the bionic boi justice with a Model Pack of the enemies/characters from Zathura’s tie-in Xbox Game, but trying to rip assets from an emulator is a nightmare-and-a-half. So I figured the next best (or worst depending on your view of my work) thing was to model the giant from scratch.
Like my previous modelling experiences, it was absolute Hell, but slightly less so, thanks to the 9 months of experience I’ve accumulated with Blender and general modding.
