you can arrange an adoption
any ruler(including yourself) is about to die and yet has no proper heir, you can let he/she to adopt a son or brother from your court
there’s some simple restriction
the adoptee:
to be son: at least 15 years younger than recipient
to be brother: younger than recipient, and recipient has father or mother
can use decision to generate a character

adoptees will be marked with adoptee trait( with no bonus), for players to easily trace them.
