Aerospatiale ATR 72-500 Finnair
The ATR 72-500 is an aircraft in the ATR (Avions de transport régional) turboprop aircraft series. The company that manufactures the aircraft, Aérospatiale, is today a part of Airbus.
This particular aircraft (OH-ATK) is one of 12 ATRs in Finnairs fleet. However, all of them are operated by Norra, a joint venture between Finnair and DAT (Danish Air Transport).
The ATR 72 can be considered Finnair’s workhorse for regional routes as they are operated all over the country and suitable for smaller airports like Mariehamn Airport (MHQ). It should be noted though, that the ATR 72 is also used in commuter flights to Gothenburg, Tallinn and even Gdansk.
