Yoshi

Saddle up with Yoshi in Rivals of Aether! Don’t let his laidback demeanor and cuddly appearance fool you; with his ravenous appetite and sharp-shooting egg throws, Yoshi is always ready to swallow the competition whole.

Yoshi, as he is in Super Smash Bros., is a solid, aggressive fighter with both close- and far-ranged attacks. He primarily excels in getting in via air with his incredible air speed and reliable aerial attacks. Ironically, however, despite Yoshi’s prowess as an air fighter, his biggest weakness is his lacking recovery. This somewhat restricts Yoshi’s air game, making it crucial for ground to be below him for it to be fully effective.

Yoshi stretches out his long tongue, licking up any opponent unfortunate enough to be in its path, and temporarily traps them in a laid egg. The more damage the opponent has taken before being licked, the longer they will be trapped in the egg.

Yoshi encases himself in an egg and rolls forward, ramming into anyone in the way. The move can be cancelled early by pressing the special button.
(Pro tip: the small hop that Yoshi performs during the moves startup can be used to recover!)

Yoshi leaps into the air, crashing down in a powerful ground pound. On the ground, this attack has a rising hitbox that can chain into the strong hit. Holding the special button while falling will also allow Yoshi to pass through semi-solid platforms.

Yoshi charges up to throw an egg in an arc. The egg’s trajectory is dependent on how far you hold your stick left or right, and its strength is dependent on how long you held the special button before the egg is released.
