Rebalanced Hidden Potential [WotC]
This is a rebalance of Mertius’ SWR Hidden Potential WotC. While his version is a faithful copy of the EU/EW Second Wave option, this mod aims to reproduce stat averages identical to WotC. It covers HP, Aim and Hacking with no changes to Mobility, Defense, Dodge, Psi or Will. Mobility, Defense and Dodge have no progression in XCOM 2 and I prefer to keep it that way. Psi already has a randomized progression and I don’t feel the Will system needs any changes.
The EU/EW implementation of Hidden Potential generally favors the player and introduces large Aim variance for Sniper in particular. Since XCOM 2 stat progression is different than EU/EW, I adjusted the values:
Rolls result in the same overall average stats as the fixed values of vanilla progression. (Sharpshooter gets a slight Aim bonus to compensate for ~0.5 less total HP). Stat variance has been lessened to reduce statistical outliers – you will see the rare super soldier or certified donkey, but they require unlikely consistent high/low rolls.
Changes are applied over 7 level ups beginning with Squaddie, and 6 level ups for WotC hero classes (Skirmisher, Reaper, Templar). In accordance with vanilla progression, Sharpshooter gets a ~10 Aim boost on Squaddie, Specialist gets a ~45 Hacking boost on Squaddie.
I highly recommend using this mod together with Not Created Equal, although it functions perfectly fine on its own. NCE adds more variety to your rookies, this mod adds more variety while leveling your soldiers.
If you prefer the old EU/EW option, use Mertius’ SWR Not Created Equal WotC.
If you prefer a robust point-pool system, use shiremct’s [WOTC] Point-Based Not Created Equal.
Not compatible with any mod that changes "SoldierRanks" in XComClassData.ini.
Changes do not apply to any custom classes.
