Description:

Vampire Counts: Untamable Necro-Dragon

"Some dragons retain their pride, even in undeath, refusing to serve as mounts for our lords. Fortunately, they’ve proven to be more powerful (and agreeable) as warriors."

1, Introduction
Adds a balanced, stand-alone, monstrous dragon unit to the Vampire Count roster. Unlocks via the same building that lets you buy the Terrorgheists, plus a Reliquary. They are affected by the same buffs and cost reduction effects that affect Terrorgheists. In terms of gameplay, these guys also function similarly to the Terrorgheists, but with a few quirks that—while balanced—add utility that the Terrorgheists do not have. Specifically, these guys are great to have in siege situations, as well as when in combat against magic-users. Though they are weak to fire, a consequence of undeath, their remaining flesh retains most of the other anti-magic properties that it held before death. Unfortunately, their lack of discipline makes them prone to fits of blind rage (AKA Rampage), if the fight isn’t going their way.

2, Unit Stat/Ability/Spell Overview
Not a whole lot to say about these guys…they fly, they fight in melee, they reduce the available Winds of Magic for your opponents, they have spells that cost no WoM and deal damage and/or prevent an enemy from escaping their deadly assault. Excellent for taking out ranged units, or enemy lords/heroes. Beware their Rampage ability, which will cause you to lose control of them if they take too much damage too quickly…although, the slight buffs they get during their Rampage can make it possible for skilled users to make strategic use of this rage, in order to maximize damage output.

3, Detailed Stats (Without Buffs)
Cost: 2,500
Upkeep: 500
Health: 6,000
Armor: 80
Leadership: 95
Speed: 90
Melee Attack: 80
Melee Defence: 50
Weapon Strength: 250 (Bonus vs. Large and Infantry)

4, Detailed Abilities/Spells
Missile Resistence: 10%
Magic Resistence: 10%
Siege Attacker: Unit can destroy gates, removing need for battering rams in sieges.
Fear: Lowers leadership of units susceptible to this effect.
Terror: Lowers leadership of units susceptible to this effect.
Perfect Vigor: Unit never tires during battle.
Strider: Ignores speed penalties.
Undead: Does not rout, unstable when leadership is low.
Orge Charge: Unit only loses half its charge bonus against braced foes.
Regeneration: 4 hp per sec, +20% weakness to fire.
Bloodgreed: Increase to melee attack, charge bonus, and leadership when fighting in melee.
Primal Fury: Slight increase to melee attack, speed, and charge.
Supreme Spellshield: Reduces Winds of Magic for opponent.
Rampage: If unit takes too much damage in a span of time, it will enrage, causing it to ignore your commands and attack recklessly.

5, Detailed Spells
Pestilential Breath: Dragon releases a deep breath from within its diseased, rotting body. Short-range magic damage, best against single foes.
Ancient Frostwyrm Scale: Unit unleashes ancient frost-dragon magic to create a vortex that reduces enemy movement speed, and causes light damage.

6, Weaknesses
Like all flying units, they have a weakness to missile attacks (though they are less susceptible than most), and while they aren’t total slouches in melee, it’s best not to pit them against the enemy’s best regiments. While they aren’t exactly "glass cannons", they can’t hold off large numbers by themselves. Cavalry is their biggest threat. Avoiding triggering their Rampage is important, as they will ignore your commands during their rage. Their cost and upkeep make them a little less attainable than the Terrorgheists, but only slightly so. They are also exempt from the Raise Dead table, meaning the only way to get one is to build it in a province with the appropriate buildings.
