The creation of polyester in Kenshi is a lore-friendly addition aimed for agricultural playthroughs that cannot focus on hemp or cotton (due to legal or fertility reasons)
What this mod does is allow for the formation of fabrics using biofuels.

As is customary for these mods, a brief history lesson in the creation of polyester.

The first true polyester was synthesized in 1930 by British chemists working for DuPont. Their creation, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), still remains most common form of polyester to this day. The two key ingredients to polyester are ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid, which condense to form the polymer that gets woven into yarn through a spinneret. Due to the economic strain from WWI, it’s development and production was halted until 1941, when they desperately needed new materials to form parachutes and other forms of equipment. In 1951, it was finally made commercially available for the first time, though it didn’t become popularized until the 70s- when it’s costs lowered and it’s wrinkle-free nature and bright colors were finally allowed to shine. From the 80s and onward, further refinements made it become the breathable, comfortable fabric we know today, resulting in it’s widespread use throughout the world.
